BRAYDEN'S JULY VISIT

Grandson Brayden visited for a long weekend this month. He earned lots of stars during the visit. Bedtime hour was 10 o"clock and unlike his past 6-7 A.M. wake up time, he slept all the way to 10 most days. That fit right in with my schedule!

Our July heat limits our outdoor activities so it's a good thing the computer is his favorite thing to do. We had swimming late in the day. He loves mealtime and snack time. Cheese and fruit are regular requirements of his preferred diet. One lunch I asked him if he wanted a tomato and he clapped and shouted "yummy!" I love feeding him. Salad? Bring it on. Papa told him we were going to lunch and he immediately thought of Olive Garden.

Instead it was a visit to the Chandler Airport to eat at the Hanger Cafe and observe the activity.

When Brayden arrived all of us inspected his wiggly tooth -- every day. Finally on Sunday he had it in his hand. Would the tooth fairy visit him that night? I asked him all sorts of questions about the prospect. It helped that he saw the tooth fairy movie.

Should we open the window for her to fly in? "No" Brayden said, "Mama, it might be a boy." "Oh no," I replied, "I'm sure it will be a she." "What color dress will she wear" I wondered? His forehead wrinkled as he thought about that.

My suggestion to put the movie camera on the chest to film her visit was rejected too. Okay, maybe she comes through the keyhole? He was pretty sure it was more like a ghost that would come.

I wondered if she would wake me up? He was pretty sure the tooth fairy would be quiet but could I leave the overhead light on? "Oh no", was my answer, "she only comes in the dark". "Turn if off" he shouted!

Monday morning he exclaimed the rainbow tooth fairy came. Wow! How do you know she was a rainbow T F I asked. "I will show you" was his reply. He ran to his suitcase and got out the letter from her. Oh boy, I glanced at it and gazed at him in wonder. He can read!!!!! My bubble burst as Papa further explained Brayden got up super early at 7 o"clock and took the letter to him. I was the sleepy head who tried to stay up to see her I guess!

During his visit he ate like a trooper. The day we went to the Chandler airport for lunch he ate everything. After that we were swimming and he announced in the pool he was hungry! Normally pool time only stops after if you shiver too long. It was 5 o'clock and I prepared eggs, toast, cheese and fruit which was quickly consumed. At 6 o'clock he asked " when is dinner?" and I reminded him of the eggs. "Oh, that was only a snack. When is dinner", he inquired again?

Sunday after swimming and dinner Eunice and I were remarking Brayden would soon ask for a snack. Sure enough a few minutes later he was hurrying to us at the table and yelling he can snack. Was that a question or a statement?

Ha, food was the last thing on his mind. No, he was so happy that he finally learned to snap his fingers. Everyone participated in the snapping contest. I try very hard but my snaps are silent. As I'm watching my fingers Papa is explaining to Brayden that the sound comes from your finger hitting the fleshy part down from the thumb. I was dumbstruck. No one ever told me that!

Thanks Brayden for the great visit!

HA! ANOTHER WATER PARK MORNING

At the entrance to the park doves watch the activity perched high on the saguaros. Doves are so abundant we ignore them but a closeup reveals this white winged dove's beautiful blue eye rings.
The saguaro flowers are fading but the fruit has now turned bright red.

Lately I've been playing with photo shop and found that I like turning pictures into silhouettes. Larry grimaces when he views them but they float my boat!

The pond with all the yuk hasn't done away with the ducks. They still seem to love to nose around in it.

This bird was perfectly happy until I came along and then he..... blew up!

It's so peaceful watching all the birds on the pond. The big herons fly in and swoop down to find a good spot. It's funny but nobody pays them any attention.

They perform "touch and go's"

A green heron rested on a branch in another pond. Maybe someone can tell me where the green is?

Thanks for looking at my pictures!
